Engine tests

AI 3D engines, tested on the same blocks

Most comparisons give each engine a different prompt or picture. We build one block-out, send it to every engine, and measure what comes back.

Vox Land routes to all of them and makes none of them.

Results by block-out

One table per test: every engine got the same blocks, so the rows compare directly.

The block-out

T-posed character

839 blocks, cartoon style: a young man in a blue T-shirt, dark grey trousers and black boots. The T-pose shows whether an engine textures both arms.

The engines

What each one takes, what it returns, and what our runs showed.

Tripo 3.1
VAST (Tripo AI)

Tripo's multi-view model: four labelled views in, a mesh with a full PBR set out, with its own OBJ / FBX export and rigging.

4 labelled views

In Vox Land: Tiers 8, 9, 11, 12 · from 22 credits

Hunyuan3D 2
Tencent Hunyuan

Tencent's open multi-view model: three labelled views in, a 40,000-triangle mesh with one colour texture out.

3 labelled viewsOpen weights

In Vox Land: Tiers 3, 6 · from 5 credits

Hunyuan3D 3
Tencent Hunyuan

Tencent's hosted successor: all four views in, a dense mesh with one 4K colour texture out, PBR maps optional.

4 labelled views

In Vox Land: Tier 13 · from 53 credits

Hunyuan3D 3.1 Pro
Tencent Hunyuan

The Pro version of Tencent's hosted 3.1 model: four views (more optional), a dense mesh and a 4K colour texture by default, up to a million faces on request.

4 labelled views

In Vox Land: Tier 14 · from 58 credits

Rodin Gen-2
Hyper3D (Deemos)

Deemos's Rodin: up to five images plus a prompt and a bounding box, a full PBR material set out.

Images without view labels

In Vox Land: Tiers 10, 15 · from 30 credits

TRELLIS (multi-view)
Microsoft Research

Microsoft's open TRELLIS, fed all four views at once: quick, light and clean on hard surfaces.

Images without view labelsOpen weights

In Vox Land: Tiers 1, 2, 4, 7 · from 3 credits

TRELLIS 2
Microsoft Research

Microsoft's 4-billion-parameter successor, built from one picture: dense geometry and PBR maps, but the back and the depth are its own guess.

One imageOpen weights

In Vox Land: Tier 5 · from 9 credits

Tripo P1
VAST (Tripo AI)

Tripo's low-poly model: four labelled views in, a light mesh (50 to 20,000 faces) with a full PBR set out.

4 labelled views

In Vox Land: Pick it in the pro workspace

Rodin Gen-2.5
Hyper3D (Deemos)

Deemos's newer Rodin: up to five images plus a prompt and a bounding box, a full PBR material set out, with more mesh-size choices than Gen-2.

Images without view labels

In Vox Land: Pick it in the pro workspace

Rodin Gen-2.5 Fast
Hyper3D (Deemos)

The fast tier of Rodin 2.5: the same inputs, a light mesh (up to 20,000 faces) with a full PBR set out.

Images without view labels

In Vox Land: Pick it in the pro workspace

Meshy-7
Meshy

Meshy's multi-image model: the views in as a list with the front first, a mesh with a full PBR set out.

Images without view labels

In Vox Land: Pick it in the pro workspace

Hitem3D 2.1
Hitem3D

Hitem3D's multi-view model: front, back, left and right views in, a very dense mesh with base-colour and roughness-metal maps out.

4 labelled views

In Vox Land: Pick it in the pro workspace

ReconViaGen 0.5
ReconViaGen team

A research reconstruction model built on TRELLIS 2, fed all four views at once.

Head-to-head

Every pair of engines that ran the same block-out.

How we test

  1. 1Same pictures. Within a test, an image model repaints the block views once (the way Vox Land always works), and that one set of views goes to every engine, at its default settings; the table lists any that differ. Engines that take a single picture get one three-quarter view, painted from the same blocks in the same style.
  2. 2So every difference inside a test comes from the engine, not from the input. The blocks fix the shape and the proportions; the repainted views add the colours and small details every engine then shares.
  3. 3Numbers are read from the file each engine delivered: triangles, file size, texture maps. Job time is the engine's job in our pipeline (the views were painted beforehand), from a single run.
  4. 4Outline match: we draw the block-out and the model as flat silhouettes from the front, the side and above, and measure how much they overlap (intersection over union; 100% means identical outlines).
  5. 5The renders are ours: the same camera, light and orientation for every file.
  6. 6We make none of these engines. Vox Land sends your blocks to whichever one you pick, so we have no reason to favour one.
